Tirez Tirez - Story of the Year
Story of the Year! More like, album of the summer! This record has been the go to album in my life over the past couple of months. When I wasn’t listening to it at home, I’d come to the cafe and there it was already spinning on the turntable. I couldn’t get away from it but really had no desire to anyway. You know I’m into it when I put it on and my oldest kid says, “This album again?!?” What a true gem Numero Group had dug up this time. I haven’t been this keen to send out a record in a while! Jesus, I’m listening to “Dreams” right now and it’s brought on the chills. David Byrne himself (the namesake of this here record club) was an early fan (from the sound of songs like "Living in This City,” the feeling was mutual) inviting Tirez Tirez to open for Talking Heads on a 1978 tour. I was born in the wrong decade.... Anyway, I’ve just blasted this whole album on headphones while writing this blurb and everything I’ve said so far is an understatement. I can already declare this a Good Thing all-timer. Well-deserving of a place in your regular future rotations. - Will Pratt (huge Tirez Tirez fan)
La Isla - Lourdes de Naranjo, Costa Rica
We had the pleasure of visiting La Isla with our crew this past winter and let me tell ya, this is one tight ship! It was absolutely stunning. Located in the mountains northwest of the capital, San Jose, Hacienda La Isla is well known for its quality, attention to detail and impressive selection of varieties that it grows. Walking the farm you will come across rows of Villa Sarchî, SL28, and this Gesha you are about to drink. We selected this coffee after it jumped off the cupping table at Selva’s cupping lab. Now keep in mind this is no Panamanian or Colombian Gesha. This is Costa Rica. You should expect a decent amount of florality with notes of melon carried along by a sweet and subtle nuttiness that Costa Rican terroir is known for.
